OXIDATION CHARACTERISTICS: ASTM D-2274

The Oxidation Stability Test Apparatus is designed for evaluating the oxidation resistance of lubricants, turbine oils, and distillate fuel oils under accelerated ageing conditions. This advanced testing system complies with ASTM D-943, ASTM D-2274, and ASTM D-2893, ensuring precise and reliable results for petroleum and lubrication product analysis.

 

Applications

  • ASTM D-943 – Oxidation stability of inhibited steam-turbine oils in the presence of oxygen, water, copper, and iron at elevated temperatures.

  • ASTM D-2274 – Measurement of inherent stability of middle distillate petroleum fuels under oxidizing conditions at 95°C.

  • ASTM D-2893 – Determination of oxidation characteristics of extreme-pressure lubricants, gear oils, and mineral oils.


Technical Features

  • Common Constant Temperature Oil Bath:

    • Inner chamber: Stainless steel

    • Outer body: Powder coated

    • Six-position model with flexible flow meter configuration

    • Equipped with oil immersion heaters, circulatory system, and insulated lid with six openings

  • Temperature Range: Ambient to 180°C ±1°C

  • Heating Rating: 2.5 kW

  • Flow Meter System:

    • ASTM D-943: Oxygen flow at 3 L/h ±0.1 L/h

    • ASTM D-2274: Oxygen flow at 3 L/h ±0.3 L/h

    • ASTM D-2893: Compressed air flow at 10 L/h ±0.5 L/h

  • Test Assemblies Included:

    • 6 oxidation cells, glass test tubes, condensers (D-943 & D-2274)

    • Air delivery tubes for D-2893 with slotted corks

  • Catalyst Wires: Low metalloid steel and copper wire packs

  • Digital Indicators: Six PT-100 sensors with electronic displays for accurate temperature control

  • Compressed Air Pump: Diaphragm oil-less type (for ASTM D-2893)

  • Power Supply: 230V ±10%, 1 Phase, 50 Hz
